At Bleasby CE School we have a large number of children who show a great interest in the sports side of the school. As both a competitive and inclusive sporting school our school ethos is to allow all children to have a say in how the schools clubs are selected (where possible) to ensure all interests are catered for. It was decided that establishing the Schools Sports Organising Crew (SSOC) the children would be able to have their say in an official capacity and they would be the voice of all the children in our school.
It was decided that the selection of SSOC members should be done in a job application format. The applicants volunteered to fill out a written document answering questions about why they feel they are a good leader, what characteristics they portray as a good role model etc (the job specification and application can be found below). Once completed the teaching staff read the applications and a selection was made. The crew consists of children who show a natural ability for sport but also of members who show, for example, good organisational skills, strong team work, good communication skills.
In the 2016-2017 SSOC a number of cake sales were organised and the monies raised from the sales bought the school a new pop lacrosse set, footballs and netballs.
The 2017-2018 SSOC have been working hard to gather the children opinions for clubs and Mrs Hobson (Sports coordinator) is working closely with them to meet these requests.
